He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3
The ministry of Deeper Still originated in Knoxville, Tennessee over ten years ago (www.deeperstill.org). The DFW Chapter of Deeper Still began in February, 2020. In April of 2024, we successfully completed our 7th retreat!!
God is ready to lavish His love and mercy upon this broken world. Through our Deeper Still Retreats, we have come to realize the power of Christian women in community by reaching out to women who are still held captive by the guilt, shame and grief of their past mistakes. The body of Christ has been left on this earth to bring good news of salvation to the afflicted, to bind up the brokenhearted and to set the captives free.
We also recognize the immense need for the fathers of aborted children to receive healing and reconciliation from their role in abortion. As such, our retreats are open to both women and men.
God chooses to use His people as the through-human method of His hands, His mouth and His heart. We who make up Deeper Still are simply saying “yes” to being part of God’s through-human method of healing and restoration.
Michelle attended her first Deeper Still retreat in October 2021 after being invited by a friend she met through a Surrendering the Secret Bible study. The healing and freedom she experienced were so profound that her daughter now loving refers to her as “Michelle 2.0.” Immediately after the retreat, Michelle shared her heart with her husband of over 25 years, Steve, and expressed her desire to get involved. She completed training and began serving at retreats in early 2022. Since then, Michelle has stepped into the role of Executive Director and now also serves as President of the Board for Deeper Still DFW.
Looking ahead, her priorities include expanding the volunteer team, building relationships with pastors and leaders across the metroplex to raise awareness of Deeper Still as a healing resource for their congregations, and developing strategic fundraising opportunities.
Michelle and Steve have two adult children and a daughter-in-law with their first grandbaby on the way.
Steve is a full-time Examiner and Pilot for Envoy Air. He began serving with Deeper Still DFW in 2022 as a retreat prayer intercessor, after being deeply moved by Michelle’s transformation following her own retreat experience in October 2021. Sensing God’s call, Steve completed volunteer training and now ministers to male participants, helping them walk in healing and freedom.
Steve is passionate about serving others and enjoys spending time outdoors and cooking.
He and Michelle have been married for over 25 years and have two adult children, a daughter-in-law and their first grandbaby on the way.
Sheila was introduced to Deeper Still in 2021 while serving on staff at a pregnancy center and facilitating an abortion healing Bible study. She volunteered at her first retreat in the spring of 2022 and was deeply moved by the miraculous depth of healing participants experienced in such a short time. Since then, Sheila has continued to serve faithfully as both a board member and retreat volunteer.
Passionate about pro-life ministry, Sheila also works on staff with Care Net as the Pregnancy Decision Line National Trainer. She and her husband, Jason, live in Fort Worth, Texas, and have one adult daughter.
Jason began serving with Deeper Still DFW in 2022 as a retreat prayer intercessor and joined the DFW Chapter board in 2023. He has also volunteered in men's ministry at a local pregnancy center, serving as a fatherhood mentor.
Jason and his wife of 33 years, Sheila, were teenage parents and share a deep passion for pro-life ministry. Together, they have participated in the March for Life in both Washington, D.C., and San Francisco. A retired U.S. Navy veteran, Jason completed his active duty service in 2016, and he and Sheila now make their home in Fort Worth, Texas.
Christi has served as a client advocate at a local pregnancy center for the past three years. Through her work there—and the healing and freedom she personally experienced through an abortion recovery Bible study—Christi began leading other abortion-wounded women through that same study.
In the fall of 2022, she attended a Deeper Still retreat as a participant, and the experience was truly life-changing. Filled with a renewed sense of purpose, she was honored to be invited to serve on the Deeper Still DFW board and now also serves as a retreat volunteer.
In addition to her work with Deeper Still, Christi co-leads the Future Hope Task Force, a monthly community meeting and prayer group. She is a commissioned Colson Fellow and actively engages in her local community by attending and speaking at FWISD school board meetings. Christi has also stepped into the political arena alongside her husband, who serves as a precinct chair.
Christi continues to lead abortion healing Bible studies and is passionate about helping others find the same freedom she has found. She and her husband, John, have been married for 26 years and have two children—a son (21) and a daughter (19).
